Benson Bunch is proud to sponsor Bella Danza Studios who are representing England at the Dance World Cup. With six weeks to go before the finals start, the preparations are in full swing! Dance World Cup has over 120,000 children around the world aged between four and 25 trying to qualify in their country for the DWC World Finals which is held annually. This year the event will take place in Telford, England at the Telford International Centre.

The 2020 competition will start on the 9th of August followed by the 2021 competition which runs until 20th of August 2021. Due to the ongoing pandemic, countries that are unable to travel because of quarantine restrictions are able to compete using video entries. In addition, the adjudication will be live streamed on dedicated DWC web channels.

For Team England, dancers are selected based on video qualifier auditions that have taken place last year. Bella Danza Studios have 19 dancers representing Team England at the World Cup. The other team members represent a wide range of dance schools in England. Bella Danza’s team range in age from seven to 14, and they will compete with six solos, four ballet quartets, a ballet duet, two trias and six group dances.

Bella Danza Studios have been selected as part of Team England for 7 years now. In 2019, the event took place in Portugal with over 6000 competitors from 53 countries. At this competition, Bella Danza Studio dancers won gold with their mini Ballet Quartet and silver with a Mini Lyrical Group. The gold winning mini quartet team are competing in the next age category at the upcoming World Cup and hope to retain their title. The quartet girls all have been awarded solo dances this time and will be aiming to place as high as they can for Team England also. Many of the Silver winning medalists are also competing in trios and group dances, aiming to win more medals for the team.

The ongoing covid restrictions have meant the dancers have spent much of the last year training on zoom. Despite these difficult preparation conditions, they have not reduced training hours in hope of a successful Championship in August.
